Concept Entertainment Group, known for the popular Thirsty Lion Gastropub and Grill and Grand Central Bowl, is looking at hire an Accountant/Financial Analyst for home office in SE Portland.

 

Thirsty Lion’s mission is to evolve the gastropub business by creating a place where friends and family can come together, celebrate life and enjoy hand-crafted food, beer and cocktails. We currently have 8 locations in Oregon, Arizona and Colorado and plans to continue growth in Texas and nationwide.

The Accountant/Financial Analyst is responsible for performing general accounting support as well as conducting high-level analysis of revenue, credit, expenses and overhead to provide accurate and data based information on the company’s profitability. The Accountant/Financial Analyst will research and analyze financial information to help the company make critical and well-informed decisions, write reports and monitor financial movements.

 

Ideal candidate will have 2-5 years of experience in an accounting and/or financial analyst position. Restaurant or food service industry experience is preferred. Requirements

Primary Responsibilities:

Accountant:

  • Maintenance and reconciliation of daily activity in bank accounts
  • Post journal entries in MAS90, the company general ledger accounting software package
  • Track and maintain fixed asset ledger. Prepare schedules for reporting of fixed assets
  • Assist with the preparation of other reports provided to management
  • Assist with year end audits
  • Assist with preparation of month-end financial statements, cash flow statements, budgets •Assist with quarterly and annual tax filings
  • Weekly processing of accounts payable, including coding and posting invoices for payment
  • Weekly A/P selection and payment
  • Preparation of weekly check requests
  • Report all discrepancies of GL items to CFO
  • Reconcile GL accounts each month
  • Balance Inner company each month
  • Maintain unit’s workbooks for periodic, quarterly and annual reconciliations

Financial Analyst:

  • Gather, organize and consolidate financial data taking into account company’s goals and financial standing.
  • Assemble and summarize data to structure sophisticated reports on financial status and risks.
  • Compile and analyze financial reports and find discrepancies that require senior management’s attention
  • Drive process improvement and policy development initiatives that impact the performance of the company.
  • Gain and update job knowledge to remain informed about relevant matters of the restaurant industry.
  • Develop financial models, conduct benchmarking and process analysis for revenue changes and expenditure increases/decreases
  • Conduct business studies on past, future and comparative performance and develop forecast models
  • Provide creative alternatives and recommendations to reduce costs and improve financial performance
  • Prepare financial reports with reliable conclusions that management can use to implement more effective operational strategies

Skills:

  • Focus on quality of work at all times
  • Proficient in spreadsheets, databases, MS Office and operational and financial software applications (MAS90, Crunchtime).
  • Outstanding presentation, reporting and communication skills •Proven knowledge of financial forecasting, diagnosis, corporate finance and information analysis
  • Well informed in current financial subjects, accounting, tax laws, money market, business environments and restaurant industry.
